Reading to a very young baby does not come naturally to many people but it is a very important thing to do. Babies learn to speak by hearing language and books are a great way to model spoken language. The language of books is the basis to learning to read, children enter school having been read between 0 and 6000 books.

The advantage to children who have been read to is huge. They already understand how books work, the entertainment that books provide and the joy of sharing a story. All those learned skills result in an easier journey into the world of reading. Read early, read often, give your child the gift of learning and yourself the joy of seeing your child’s world open up.
